Frequently asked questions
Why do some tools break emoji when reversing?
They reverse UTF-16 code units. This tool reverses grapheme clusters, so a flag or a skin-toned emoji survives the trip intact.
Is reversing a string the same as mirroring?
No. Reversing changes the order of characters; mirroring would flip each glyph horizontally, which plain text cannot represent.
Can I reverse just the line order?
Yes, choose Line order. The characters inside each line stay as they are and only the sequence of lines is inverted.
Does it work for right-to-left scripts?
The characters are reversed logically. How they render depends on the bidirectional algorithm of the application you paste the result into.
