What this tool gives you
Real dig output
The same header and answer section you would see in a terminal, including TTLs and record classes.
Parsed answers
Every record in the answer section laid out as a table with name, type, TTL and data.
Five record types
A, AAAA, MX, NS and TXT: the records that cover hosting, mail and verification.
Frequently asked questions
What is dig?
Domain Information Groper is the DNS query tool shipped with BIND. Administrators use it to troubleshoot resolution problems because it shows raw, unfiltered answers.
Why is there no ANY or PTR option?
ANY queries are refused by most servers today (RFC 8482) and reverse lookups are better served by the IP Address Lookup tool.
What is the difference from the DNS Records tool?
DNS Records presents parsed tables for many types at once. DiG returns the unprocessed response for a single type, which is what you need when debugging.
Where does the query run?
On a dedicated probe server that queries a public recursive resolver, so you see what the internet sees rather than a cached answer from your own ISP.
