Frequently asked questions
How do I replace line breaks?
Enable regular expressions and search for \n (or \r?\n for Windows files). The replacement can be a space, a comma or an empty string.
What does $1 mean in the replacement?
In regex mode, $1, $2 and so on insert the text captured by the corresponding parentheses group in the pattern.
Are all occurrences replaced?
Yes, every match in the text is replaced, not only the first one. The counter above the result tells you how many were found.
Why does my pattern show an error?
The expression is not valid JavaScript regex syntax. Check for unbalanced brackets or escape special characters such as . ( ) with a backslash.
